The Highland Society
of London

Each year, the Society gives an award for the best work by a Highlander at the Royal Scottish Academy’s summer exhibition.

The Society also offers two essay prizes through the University of the Highlands and Islands – for the best undergraduate dissertation on a subject relating to the Highlands and Islands; and (from Summer 2017) for the highest mark overall on the creative writing module within the graduate Highlands and Islands Literature programme. Copies of the winning works are available to Members of the Society.

Recently, the Society announced the establishment of the annual Highland Book Prize, in conjunction with Moniack Mhor Writers' Centre and Ullapool Book Festival, to bring recognition to books created in or about the Highlands.  In addition, the Society publishes a regular review of recent books published on a Highland theme, available in the Members’ Area of this site.
